Incredibly creepy. It evokes both an authentic Egyptian air and also an air of cosmic horror. I am delighted to see that it was made from real Egyptian papyrus.

Beautifully done. Very evocatively Lovecraftian, but convincingly Ancient Egyptian too.

This is exceptional. You really captured a lot of the look and detail you'd find in an actual Egyptian papyrus (a bit less aged, yes, but I like the vividness). Very well done.

How much would a recreation of this, or a different scene from Egyptian myth cost? How long did this one take you?

It took about a week and a half. A recreation or a different scene would run you $200.

This is getting back to the roots, when one starts reading Cthulhu`s mythos, learning and thinking that everything is gloom and poisoned in this real world. Im inspired now. Thanks

This is awesome!

I was actually thinking of doing something like this myself, but I can't do anything this fancy.

What did you use for the name? I'm very rusty, but as far as I can tell, it's not "Nyarlathotep", at least. I was trying to figure a way to write that, 'hotep', obviously is easy to translate to hieroglyphics, rest of it less...

It says, "Nephren Ka" which is the name of the black pharaoh who was possessed by Nyarlathotep and owned the Shining Trapezohedron for a time. It's from Lovecraft's story, "The Haunter of the Dark".

It's written using the uniliteral signs?

Not the way I would have written it, but I can't claim to be an expert.

I purposely jumbled it. There would be no way to accurately write the name because it's not real and is just phonetics.

Well, most names we use to refer to the pharaos are approximate, and not the real spellings.

It could be written

nfr-k3 (Beautiful Ka)
or
nAi.f-aAw Re-n K3 (I'm not sure if grammatically correct)

Or other ways, if you want to include the name of god 'Re' in it...

In what dynasty he supposedly belonged?
Also, I don't think the name of the pharaoh would be presented like that without his title or something. And the arrangement of the hieroglyphic text is a bit off.

Sorry to nitpick, though, this is drawn (or painted beautifully)
What kind of paint did you use?

Between Zjoser and Snefru, if I recall my "Masks of Nyarlathotep" correctly - by no means certain. Certainly, he was supposedly buried in the Collapsed Pyramid, then moved to the Bent.

I've been looking at this thing for about five minutes. It's gorgeous. So much detail packed into so little space...I find myself itching to translate it, but the image is small and I fear I may go mad. Love the classic iconography of the sky, bound prisoner poses, and the gold paint especially.
